The Golden Rule

The Golden Rule

Mathew. 7:12, Luke 6:31

Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Rajan

We should treat others as we want to be treated  Mathew. 7:12

Iron Rule "Do unto others before they do it to me."

Silver Rule "Do unto others as they do unto me." Or do not

Golden Rule "Do unto others as I would have them do unto me."

We have to search our hearts.

Mat 5:16 People should glorify God when they see our deeds

When people fail to notice our good deeds we feel sorry, and we get angry when they saw our bad things

  • When we see people as they are we hate but when people do not like me as I am we get irritated.;

  • When one does wrong, we say that how can he do that but when we do that, we say that it is very common for all the people to error.

  • We criticize others but when others criticize us, we became annoyed.

  • When someone suffers, we say that it is because of his sin but when we suffer we say that it is a test for the righteous.

  • When others fail to accept our opinion, we say they purposely disregard it but when we do not accept others’ opinions we say that it is wisdom...

    • We can easily point out that in what are the are our neighbour should change but we fail to recognize the change God is expecting
    • We are so eager to change others, but we do not will to change ourselves
    • We feel hurt when no one lends but we fail to think about our giving
    • We feel very sad that no one loves me but how many people are happy because of our love
    • We say that we are unable to trust anyone but how is our trustworthiness?

This is the background of this verse.

Let us once again search our heart

ICor 11:31 But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment.
